Website update

Back on track!

Years ago I made my first website and although I was a little scared getting into the difficult things of ‘html’ I also had some fun learning something new. Today I introduce to you my new website with pictures, more information and even a blog.

Fore those young people who are into these ‘things’ like developing websites, this website – my work – is probably a piece of cake. But they have to understand that my first experience with computers is from somewhere in the ’70’s where I learned programming in Basic on a teletype machine equipped with a tape-reader-writer punching holes in a paper tape. There was no screen on the machine. There was only paper coming out.

For updating my website I could have asked one of these small companies where some smart kids develop the site for you. This is like going to your accountant with a carton box containing all your trouble. They sort it out and do their magic tricks. Unfortunately that doesn’t satisfy me a lot. For my company I do my own bookkeeping and I also want to be involved in setting up my own website.

Therefore, I was very happy to find out that nowadays there are solutions for the complicated stuff in setting up your website. Using WordPress made it a lot easier to prepare the site with pages, pictures, video’s, link’s, blog and many other things.

Another thing I found was a website called Lynda.com. A huge online library with more than 2.000 courses in video format on computer skills for whatever program you might want to use. Besides WordPress I did a few other courses and I am really impressed about the quality of the courses.lynda_logo3y-d_144x

From Wikipedia:
Lifelong learning (adult education) is the “ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated” pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Therefore, it not only enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development, but also self-sustainability, rather than competitiveness and employability.
Or in short “it is never too late to learn”.

With the help of WordPress and Lynda,

the proof of Lifelong Learning is on your screen.
